Biblical Greek Forums, Discussion Lists & Listservers

Greek discussion lists, forums and mailing lists are extremely helpful to learn Biblical Greek. Below are links and descriptions to many of the most active Greek forums, discussion boards, emailing lists.

Agora Forums and Chat - The Agora Greek chat and room and forum offers live chat as well as a number of topical forums arranged by books of the New Testament and grammatical issues. Please, join the discussion of New Testament Greek. Discussions are limited to the Greek text. Those who wish to develop theological arguments are asked to post elsewhere. Of course, all chat and posts are to be conducted with christian charity.

B-Greek Email List - Agora Greek Chat & Forums The B-Greek mailing list is a great resource for learning Biblical Greek. Discussion topics include tools for beginning and advanced students of Biblical Greek such as textbooks, reference works, bibliography and research tools, and linguistic topics such as morphology, lexicography, syntax,and discourse analysis. Emails are to written in plain text and all Greek must conform to the B-Greek transcription style given on the home page.

Bible Translation Email List - The Bible Translation list is an email discussion list devoted to discussing issues relating to Bible translation. Subscribers include: professional Bible translators, church leaders, professors, linguists, teachers, as well as many serious Bible students from a variety of perspectives. Anyone interested in Bible translation is welcome to subscribe.

Corpus-Paulinum - Corpus Paulinum (the Corpus-Paul List) is a moderated academic e-list dedicated to the scholarly discussion and evaluation of critical questions surrounding the life, influence, teaching, theology, and the writings of the Apostle Paul. The List's purpose is to provide a forum where these questions may be raised, entertained, and debated outside of the usual arenas of printed journals and monographs. Additionally, Corpus Paulinum is intended to be a venue in which those working professionally in the field of Pauline studies may post and receive critical responses to papers or ideas that are in the process of development.

E-Matthew - E-Matthew is a discussion group whose focus is the interpretation and understanding of the Gospel of Matthew and its role in the development of Christian thought from the first century through the Reformation.

G-Thomas - The Papyri Oxyrhynchi 1, 654 & 655 and Nag Hammadi Codex II,2 (The Gospel of Thomas) are literary papyri of interest to biblical scholars specialising in extra-canonical texts (the writings outside of the New Testament). This list is dedicated to the scholarly discussion of the Gospel of Thomas and provides an online forum for those working or interested in New Testament, History, or Religious Studies.

John-Lit Email List - "Johannine_Literature" is an on-line group dedicated to the scholarly discussion of the Fourth Gospel and the Letters of John. Its purpose is to provide a forum for questions and proposals relating to the exegesis of the Johannine Literature, including its relationship with other biblical literature, history and culture, and using any and all modern critical tools and methods. This list is co-sponsored by the "Johannine Literature Section" of the Society of Biblical Literature.

KATA MARKON - Agora Greek Chat & Forums Kata Markon (The Gospel of Mark Discussion List) is a moderated academic e-list dedicated to the scholarly discussion and evaluation of critical questions surrounding the Gospel according to Mark. The purpose of the List is to provide a forum outside of the usual arenas of printed journals and monographs where these questions may be raised, entertained, and debated . Additionally, Kata Markon is intended to be a venue in which those working professionally in the field of Markan studies may post and receive critical responses to papers or ideas that are in the process of development.

Synoptic-L Email List - Synoptic-L is an academic list devoted to scholarly discussion of the Synoptic Gospels. Its purpose is to provide a forum for questions relating to the exegesis of Matthew, Mark and / or Luke, using and analysing the standard critical tools and methods, with a special emphasis on the interrelationships among the Synoptics.

Textual Criticism List - This group is for the discussion of the variants in the text of the Bible in the original languages and the early versions. ist is loosely associated with the electronic journal TC. The old site and original information for this list can be found here.

X-Talk Email List - X-Talk: The Historical Jesus and early Christian Origins is a, moderated, academic e-List dedicated to the scholarly investigation and discussion of the critical questions and issues surrounding the study of the Jesus of History and the rise of Christianity.
