1. Online Classsical Greek Texts

Classical Greek texts are fairly easy to find online. Below is a quick list of online sites that provide classical Greek texts. Many of the sites offer additional helps and tools for the classical texts such as quick parsing, (click or rollover words to see grammatical parsing) and translations.

Perseus Classics - This is the king of online classics websites. This website has many tools in addition to the long list of Greek texts and translations. There are many different display options in order to see the Greek text. Click on "Configure display" in the upper left corner to adjust the language and font. I prefer to select Unicode font with pre-combined accents. Not only does it look the best, but you are able to cut and paste the Greek into your word processing documents. The only tricky part is to make sure that you use a Unicode font in your document like Palatino Linotype or you may see boxes or question marks. Minion Pro is my favorite Unicode font click here for instructions on how to get it and other fonts.

Thesaurus of the Greek Language - Collected and digitized most literary texts written in Greek from Homer to the fall of Byzantium in AD 1453. There is a free trial section.

MIT Classics - Use the dropdown menu to view the texts they have available online.

Lucian's True History - This is a good text for transitioning from reading Koine Greek to Classical Attic Greek. You will have to download the font for this site here.

Easy Aesop's Fables - This site collects some easy readings of Apollodrous from the Perseus web site. It is a nice collection for those looking to expand their skills outside of the New Testament. See their other selections from Plato and Lysias et. al. here.

World-Wide Ancient Greek Reading Notes - Cecelia Luschnig has posted many of her reading notes online. These include notes for Scorates' Apology, Crito, Eripides' Medea, Herodotus, and Thucydides.

A Greek Boy at Home (online text) - W. H. D. Rouse. A Greek Boy at Home. Blackie and Son, 1909.

This is a graded continuous and entertaining narrative, which would make a great supplement to any curriculum. Long out of print, so here is a pdf of the whole thing (22mb). You can also download the vocabulary for this book, which contains many Greek synonyms instead of English equivalents This reader is meant to accompany his First Greek Course, also in pdf for download.

Bibliotheca Graeca (alphabetical) - Links arranged in alphabetical order to numerous Ancient Greek texts.
